Just an FYI, his head coach is a former QB/baseball player for USF.  CJL told him he had to choose between football and baseball, so he chose baseball.

There was a playoff game last year where Jim Harbaugh had Kaepernik playing a running QB almost every set of downs and it was effective.  He wants someone that can do it all.  Athletic ability is not something that can be taught.  If we are to believe we are running a 49ers offense than I expect to see some scrambling.

Jefferson quarterback Deiondre Porter: No one — not even Armwood's outstanding defense — has really stopped Porter, who has thrown for 758 yards and rushed for another 610. It should also be noted that the Dragons have played only four games, which means Porter is averaging 342 all-purpose yards a game. Oh yeah, he's also thrown seven touchdown passes and run for five.

I know he's projected as a DB at the next level, but I think you have to give this guy a shot at winning the starting job next year, or at least the #2 spot. He's extremely fast and just as tall or taller than a Daniels or Grothe. He's already taller and bigger than Godfrey was when he was a senior. If he really is as tall as his listing (6'1"), then he could pack on another 20lbs onto his frame pretty easily.

Agree.  Depends on how his skills translate to the next level, but makes a lot of sense on paper.  Especially with the cluster job that is our QB position right now.
