I'd be down with charsibb's contributions, and agree that it has to be a north-south stadium. A horseshoe wouldn't be bad for wind since I'm saying it would be higher grandstands on the west and east sides, and the endzone that is "shoed" in would be a lower level, kinda like RJS is now. I do like the futbol or Washington style overhang as well, would at least be good for sound.

Couldn't care less if the wind affects the game. I know it can be sauna like even in the evening games early on, but if we stop scheduling dumb midday games before November, we'll be fine. 3:30 and 7/8pm games on campus would be awesome to tailgate throughout the day.

I may be incorrect but I don't think we've ever scheduled a midday game ...

True, but still. Hopefully as mentioned, different TV deal means we can get better times. Don't mind a midday or afternoon game past say, Halloween, but even mid October it gets a bit scalding.

Even though I chose seats specifically to deal with those day games, I'd be ecstatic if all our home games were at 7:00 PM on a Saturday ...

TV deal precludes it, I'm sure.

The man speaks the truth... what bad TV we'll get won't be at 7pm on Saturday night. If we win we'll get noon slots..... somewhere.

Looks like USF might be serious about next phase.  First, indoor practice facility and then stadium.  Greg reported something that speaks volumes

USF has a new leader for its athletic fundraising efforts, as the Bulls on Tuesday announced the hiring of Ohio University's Jim Harris as senior associate athletic director, as well as the university's associate vice president for development.

Harris, 33, spent the last four years at Ohio, where he helped secure a $10 million lead gift toward an athletics facility for the Bobcats; while at Indiana, he helped the efforts to build a $45 million North End Zone facility as well as a $25 million basketball facility.

"I am excited to join the University of South Florida faimly and to work with all of the wonderful donors, alumni, fans, student-athletes and administration at USF," Harris said in a statement. "It is an honor to be part of such a tremendous and growing athletic program, led by Doug Woolard, one of the best in the business, and I look forward to playing a role in the future of USF athletics."

Ohio University has had serious budget issues. Here is a PBS documentary about how their program operates at a loss with the program itself only covering 20% and the school the rest. Half of all the student fees go to the athletic department. USF shouldn't have the school support athletics like Ohio University does.

Pretty interesting documentary. Referring to the increasing expenditure for athletics as 'the arms race' is pretty accurate. The thing for Ohio, is that they're kicking around - to a degree - the option of dropping down to Division II. Then again, that impacts scholarships on the academic side, so it's not a best-case solution. I don't believe U of SF is in as dire straights as Ohio, however. Sounds like, based on the above, Harris was working to help remedy the problems already in place.

My point is that let's not put athletics above education. Don't make it a burden that the entire student body has to bear, with students dropping school over student fees for which a large chunk goes to support an athletic department that can't pay for itself and now they can't afford to attend. Don't get into the situation that Cal is in, also mentioned in the film, spending millions on stadium renovation in a state with a budget crisis. Don't make a new stadium a huge monkey on the university's back. We now have an administrator that apparently was at a school that was doing exactly that, spending more on athletics than the school can afford.
