Can you guys believe its been almost 30 years since the Space Shuffle Challenger tragedy?

Wow. Can't be that long. Time does fly.

I was in the basement of the Engineering Building. remember it like it was yesterday. You?

I was studying in my room at Fontania Hall. Went outside and could see the vapor and smoke from the explosion.

Came into the communications center at the embassy in Vienna as an unclassified news flash.

This was back in the pre-pre-internet days when the 'fast' circuit was 2400 baud. Interestingly,

overseas you're considerably disconnected from events in the US - focused mostly on the mission

at hand - but this was a huge event, with lots of coverage in the Austrian press.

I was about to take a power nap in the parking lot of the Engineering Building.  A bunch of people came running out, looking at the sky.  When I looked, I saw vapor trails going in directions they shouldn't be, so I turned on the radio.

I was out to lunch in my car. You could see it from Sarasota. People put their lights on and were honking their horns.
