FSU was considered a woman's school for years and was always playing second fiddle to Florida. It takes time, wins and championships for perceptions to change.

 

I hear this all the time, it's a great story.  Was it a girls school in any of our lifetimes?

 

A couple of us Bullspenners were prolly around in 1946, but not me. Cousin Ricky might have been in diapers back then?

That's the point. That perception went on for 40 years after it was changed to co-ed until they started winning football championships during the "Dynasty" years.

Tulsa is a decent addition. Let's weigh the pro's and cons.  Con's: they are a tiny school, tiny t.v. market, ugly campus, and they are a long and not sought after away game destination. Pro's: good football, good academic programs. I think the pro's outweigh the con's at this point with what the Big East is going for.

I forgot to mention that Tulsa has $$$. I still think we should go to 14 schools because I believe that Ohio U. and U Mass are worthy targets going forward.

the nightmare continues

LOL, time to wake up to reality.  Most people barely know who USF is and I would guess  most in California still think of the team I grew up in the 70's and early eighties rooting for in basketball (Dons).  This invite to one of the big 5 (really big 4 as the ACC is not really a power if FSU, UM, Clemson, and Va Tech leave and USF gets picked) is not going to happen anytime soon.  I would bet ESPN is working on a plot to contract the pool of Div 1 teams down to a "workable number" like 64 or 65 which leaves USF out.  College sports is one of the few things left that people will watch live and sit through the ads.  ESPN will protect their goldmine as long as they can until someone figures out how to deliver it differently.
