Now that the Big East is dead and dreams of a lucrative television deal with it, how is the $35 million Sun Dome makeover going to pay for itself?

Rent it out for birthday parties.

Search for an upcoming televangalist to lease it to for Sundays.

Trampolines: Jump in the Sun

Aftercare facility. 3000 3-7 graders hooping and hollering.

Car shows every 3rd Saturday

Battle of the Bands Venue

Any ideas?

I'm really hoping USF takes a significant portion of the windfall we are receiving from the defections and uses it to pay down debt.

That being said, I don't know how much debt USF Athletics has, but I think it would be smart to reduce it as much as possible.

We may be having some long years ahead and having some potentially big bills raking up and needing to be paid may not help us much.

Debt is extremely cheap at the moment. USF should be leveraging it up, not paying it down.

One caveat, though. Any assets taken on with debt must create their own revenue streams to pay off that debt.

This ^^

Only they will secure the debt with future increases in student athletic fees, so there will always be an income stream for this.

Aren't USF's student athletic fees like, amongst the highest in the nation? In the top 10, right?

Will the debt secured with future increases in student athletic fees be worth it if we ultimately don't land in a 'power' conference? What will everyone be saying about Doug Wollard, about the administration and about athletics in general if we continue to pay higher fees than most, including 'power' schools, are we are where we are in a non-power conference, respectively and without an OCS?

I'm not trying to be difficult, I guess I'm just playing a little more conservatively.

Pretty funny....

Perhaps we can host an NCAA regional as clearly home field advantage isn't going to be a problem....

Wasn't most or all of the money used for the renovations raised prior to them starting?

No.

Some donations covered some of the other facilities (but they were still mostly debt)

I do not believe any of the Sun Dome money was in place prior to construction, I think the increased revenue and naming rights were the plan to pay for the Sun Dome.

Lol they actually have this at Texas A&M Arena every year.

I remember the SunDome always having some MMA fights when I was at USF.

USF contributed $8.5 of the $35 million renovation.from auxiliary reserves.

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.
