Just curious not being from the Tampa area or knowing Weiner, but how does this lock down Tampa in the long run? As an example, Why would a 5 star recruit from Tampa, or for that matter Plant HS, want to go to USF over Offers from Alabama, ND, USC, Texas, UF, etc. because of our WR coach?

Educate me as how this will lock down recruiting in 2016.

Good question.

I was wondering the same thing. In the end a big time player will follow tradition and a chance to play in the playoffs.

ask the louisville players from the miami area why they followed clint hurtt when he left miami to coach at UofL. recruiting is all about relationships. teddy bridgewater and many miami kids flipped when he left for UofL. people think it was charlie strong that brought in those kids but it wasn't.

recruiting is all about relationships. Weiner has them not only with Plant high school where I'm sure they will hire someone he recommends but he also has them with other area high schools. great hire for what amounts to a position coach.

Im actually surprised he left only for a position coach job. I thought he'd leave for a coordinator position. Makes you wonder how crappy h.s. coaches get paid

They make their teacher pay plus $3,736.00 for the coaching stipend. It's dictated by the county. Plant can't pay a coach any more than another school can.

USF's Chris Breit, on Weiner recruiting in Tampa: "It's a huge pipeline. Plant, Robinson, Armwood, anywhere. Coaches, they all respect him."
