Would be awesome in Florida. Could you imagine the nice landscaping that could be done on the berm area with palm trees and tropical plants. Could it really be done for only $12 million? Cheaper than the Sundome remodel? Just doesn't seem possible. If it could, then it would be worth exploring. I would love to know what USF misses out on annually in lost revenue for parking, concessions, etc not including naming rights for a stadium. Current reality should be the general trending number of attendees since joining the BE in 2005. We pack that stadium pretty good when we're winning. We went to a bowl how many years in a row .... and how many times did we "pack" that stadium? Depends on where it was I guess. Can't blame people for not going to the International Bowl in Canada. How many bowl teams are "packing" their bowl stadiums this year? Articles all over the place on big time programs not being able to sell any tickets..even at 1/2 price. Fact remains, you win and people show up to your home stadium.
Sanford Bull Posted December 14, 2012 Group: Member Topic Count: 3 Content Count: 165 Reputation: 2 Days Won: 0 Joined: 10/23/2012 Share Posted December 14, 2012 it looks like a mini-Rose Bowl-- very flat and the farthest seats are FAR from the field, not HIGH above the field in the sun if you notice, the tunnels for the fans lead to the OUTSIDE of the stadium. which means, there is no concessions area for the stadium.. so, unlike most stadiums, where you want to get food/drink/bathroom, it will lead you to the outside of the stadium, where the food and drink and bathrooms will be. that being said, i still think we would be more than happy with this stadium on campus. The Marshall Center was built using the Capital Improvement Trust Fund plus a ton of borrowed money. The CITF would get us $15M-20M. If you can do that and then get another $10-15M for a luxury box section, we could build a modern version of the Yale Bowl relatively quickly. How much has USF earned from naming rights for the more than 30 years the Sun Dome has been on campus?

The stadium cost $750,000 to build in 1913. That is $17.4 million adjusted for today's dollars. But does that necessarily mean that the same undertaking today would cost the same amount of money? I dunno much about it, but I get the feeling it's going to cost significantly more than that.

Regardless of price, we need to build a BCS quality stadium. Unless we are going to be back in CUSA for a while, we need to build a stadium worthy of the ACC or Big12. It should be expandable and upgradable obviously, but the minimum needs to be more than UCF put into theirs. I know we give them crap but they are doing it the right way for them. If the Big East hadnt just collapsed on them, they would be in position to upgrade that stadium within a few years. Then what will we be saying? Unfortunately, since we couldnt start from scratch, we will need a HUGE starting point(Im thinking $200M at least) to be competitive with those of other conferences. We need to shoot for middle of the road ACC/Big 12. Not FSU/Clemson/Texas/etc, but better than Kansas or Duke. Im thinking something similar to UL or UNC. You guys are dreaming though if you think this is happening any time soon.

Seems it could be spruced up and made to look 1st class. It would make me real happy.
