I think that this is a step in that direction.

Best part is talking with Polk Countians (many of whom are Gator alums), and they all like to claim they don't like how it went down and didn't have a side to cheer for, but insist on "let's all come together and make it work now," as well as they don't have a great impression of Judy Genshaft. I think a lot of common local folks who aren't USF students and haven't kept up with it other than what the papers have written aren't fully aware of the BS that has gone on and how bad of a situaton this is. And none of them seem to care and think that us USF people are just whining and taking it worse than we should. I guess they'll never understand since they haven't been royally screwed over as a university, and their assets are safe since the legislature favors them. It really is hard to have a discussion with them sometimes, and I think many USF people's already large hatred for everything UF (aka 'the establishment') will only grow as this all goes down. I'm sure UF's record is impeccable.

He'd fit in perfect with the UF-Lakeland branch. I am totally convinced FL Poly will become a permanent part of the UF system. Once Poly proves it can't succeed, Alexander will call his buddy Machen and the Gators will come running to save the day. USF was likley becoming to big for the boys in Gainesville (and Tallahassee, too) and in order to keep us in our place, we needed to be knocked down a few pegs. All that's happening right now is just posturing in order to get UF onto the I-4 corridor without having to pay a dime for it. I do not think UF cutting back it's CISE program is a coincidence. Or, maybe I'm completely wrong and will be proven so in the coming years.
