Just wanted to throw this visual out there so everyone can get a feel for the geography of our new conference:

We'd only go to Boise or San Diego one every 3 or 4 years.

Hoping that Air Force and Navy come in because those would be nice trips as well.

Interesting pattern on the map. Looks like 5 groupings of 2--each team has 1 geographic rival.

That's a good point. I hadn't thought of that. Kind of a neat concept, and would allow some (hopefully) compelling rivalries to develop in the traditional sense (you hate/play the guy next door to you), but I also am starting to like the additions overall, the idea of playing them, and hopefully the long-term upside of being in so many markets/areas.

I don't know if it's just relief that we're finally (I think) seeing all this finalized, but I'm getting really fired up and jazzed about the new Big East. It's going to be a great conference. Of course, this could just be because of our dismal 2011 season and the whole realignment fiasco making it even worse. But, I'm excited. Totally excited.

Honestly, I don't care if the service academies do come in in the future, either. I'd take Memphis and Temple, or whoever, just the same. As long as we do it soon. All I know is I can't wait to get to 12, have a championship game, and start building on our past successes. Let's hope somehow we can pull a miracle and re-sign a long-term series with FSU and/or Miami, and start loading our OOC with some marquee teams. I'd truly be happy then.

Thanks for the demonstrative exhibit. That is a crazy travel schedule.

Yeah, Boise is looking REALLY far there. It's all good, though. At least we don't have to send the women's underwater basket weaving team there.

And, hey, we get to go to Orlando every other year. Yippeee!

I like the look of the new BE....simply for the fact that it has more southern/swestern schools.

Also, I think another western team is crucial. If it is not AF then it needs to be UNLV, Fresno, Colo st. or somebody. I don't see the western division working with only 2 truly western programs. They are already saying that if AF is out Temple may be in but another program in the west is crucial to maintain "balance" on the fball side.

I never planned on going to Pitt or WV for away games. But Houston, Dallas or San Diego? Road trip baby!!! Boise may be a once in a lifetime thing. If we play out there during Sept or October I may go. Not going in the cold weather months. Rutgers game at 35 degrees was bad enough this year.

"There is no inherent fear among this group of players. The fear of failing drove the program from day one - the fear of failing the coaches, the fan base, the university, each teammate, themselves. Now, as we head into the biggest game in our history at home on a national stage against the highest ranked team to step on OUR field, the players are taking an introspective look at themselves. Unfortunately, I don't know if they get it. They lack the fear."

“This is not a broken football program by any means. It just needs to be united, to get everybody on the same page, share that same vision, and really to have that standard - best is the standard.”
