I'm sure Lanaris is a good kid, but let's talk football.  My problem with Lanaris is that we know he is not going to be able to defend the pass, but I don't see him defending the run either.  He doesn't come downhill, fill gaps, scrape, or get off blocks.  If he can't defend either well, I'd rather see Barrington at Middle and give Juene, Cliett, or Weatherspoon a shot at outside.  Unfortunately, that decision was made in camp, and we will live with Lanaris' limitations all year.  I know the coaches made this evaluation in camp, I just think they didn't make the best long-term decision.

I was a little shocked by this thread....

I agree that Lanaris has not provided much value on the defensive side of the ball with the exception of the interception at ND he has not done much. during the Pitt game he spent most of his time chasing the tight end and the running back and during the UConn game he did not do a great job of shedding blocks.

I predict Cincinnati will  isolate him against the RB and the TE and we will see similar results as the Pitt game.

I don't think it would hurt to see someone else playing the MLB spot.  At this point I can careless about seniority.

You guys knocking BJ are insane, he hasn't even played bad.  our mlb on the other hand is terrible.

IN the spring and summer we had Sam at mlb with cliett starting at strongside.  Why not switch to this????
