I'd like to start a serious discussion about this and keep it in one centralized location (this thread).

This is not a coaching problem, we had this issue with Leavitt and now with Holtz.  Or is it?  or is it a personnel problem, not recruiting the type of athletes that can compete in this specific conference? or is it something else?

Yes, it is without question.

In my opinion, most of the BE teams (UConn, Rutgers, Pitt, Syracuse, etc) are built like a big 10 ten team.  The have big OLs and downhill runners.  We are built with speed and finesse and unlike WV we don't have enough athletes to exploit the lesser teams.  That's why WV routs UConn and we lose. Also, we don't have 1 QB that is a threat to throw the ball down the filed.

Also, we practice against ourselves.  So you can't simulate the different style of play.  We need to recruit a different type of lineman and more skilled athletes not to mention a QB that can make the right read and throw the ball down the field.

It's very frustrating.  I think there is maybe one or two more wins on this schedule and sadly the BULLs won't be bowling. With all of the conf reallignment mess going on this has been one of the most depressing seasons in a while.  :(

We need a BCS caliber QB, we need to get deeper at all of the skill positions, we need to become a violent defense, we need all of things that takes many programs a hell of a lot longer than 15 years to do.  Time is not our friend in all of this.  Its the same formula to beat us-year in and year out-and no one strays from it....

Run it between the tackles, blitz our shorter QB's who have been athletes playing the QB position, run simple a sharp routes against our soft coverage, and frustrate our team into penalties.  Tell me the last time a team beat us and we did not give up 100 yard rusher, made a bad QB look good, or give up enough penalty yards to build a stadium.

In our conference, we need to get bigger up front, get a QB who is an mathlete, and learn to read a route effectively.  Some of that coaching and some of that is talent.  Either way, were just  not there yet.

Shut down the football program and focus on academics. This is ridiculous. Every football season is like groundhogs day. Same **** regardless of personnel, coaching, conference. We had our chance. With all the conference realignment, with our failure to beat a team that lost to WESTERN MICHIGAN, end the football program. Why keep it going? You think next year will be different? End it.

Because we're not a good fit for the Big East. We have been known to play defense at times, but our offenses are never built to matchup and sustain BE success.

In fact, I don't know what our offense is built to do. It's not a spread, or a pro style, or a triple option, or a power run/play action. We just seem to pull plays out of a hat and hope they work.

I have been saying the same thing for 3 years. Its the way we recruit. We put all our eggs in the Florida basket. We need to get kids from different places that know how to play against different types of competition. Our kids know how to play mostly against speed teams. Our coaches have fallen into the "Florida is a hotbed of recruiiting". Well yeah it it is to a degree, but you need a mix of kids.

If you want to compete in a conference start acting and recruit like you are in that conference.

I think we all assumed the Indian burial mound thingy was just affecting the basketball program .... we were wrong,
