Why is Fennelly so ridiculously anti-USF?

"USF's win over 'Nova was great, but likely not program altering"

Can't stand this guy.

BECAUSE USF HASN WON A THING

BIG EAST AND VILLANOVA ARE OVERATED

>500 CONFERENCE RECORDS SHOULDNT GET IN

Wait, so anyone with a record above .500 shouldn't get in?

:ROFLMAO

Really, why bother?

Exactly! Anyone with a record of over 50% has proven that they are - in my finest Sheen voice - WINNING!

The tournaments should be held strictly to allow the 'lower tier' schools additional time to git they game on.

it seems like when USF wins anything of note, too many writers are far more interested in telling us how unimpressive this was rather than giving us credit for actually doing something positive.

as for delusions--- it's not like USF put up a billboard touting the win or something (this may have something to do with what he was talking about though in regards to the Big Four BBs)

He is just another Gator lover.

The FSU's, UF's of the world are scared.

They see the growth of USF (more students than FSU) and UCF (more students than UF) and realize that the new generation isn't necessarily into tradition.  Nor are they into going to some po dunk town where a college is the biggest thing.  Kids today need entertainment and bigger metro areas are of interest to them. Why else would USF and UCF be larger than most (in UCF's case all ) of the other state schools.

They realize in 10 years, when USF and UCF are the largest two schools in the state, it will be harder for UF and FSU to recruit.  They are doing their job of puppets and supporting the mainstream traditionalists (think Kirk Herbstreit and ESPN promoting Big 10, when they are awful).

Reality will smack them in the arse over the next 10 - 15 yerars.

USF will be in a BCS Bowl game within 10 years, probably 5.

Isn't UF the only major college in Florida with a journalism college?  Lots of UF journalism school grads are on staff at Florida newspapers and TV stations and hence why UF slant exists in much of Florida's media.

You don't need a journalism degree... you just need to look pretty and read from a teleprompter.

Not a fan of Fennelly, but he isn't off base with this one.

Jeez, everyone whines when a columnist declares the obvious.  Nothing Fennelly said was wrong, and he is a columnist...a nationally award winning columnist.  Martin's job isn't to stroke egos but to open eyes.

The intention of his column Tally was to incite this very response by YOU!  Fennelly again proved why he is an award winning columnist and editorialist and not a moronic arse clown like Bianchi in that he incites deep thought.  He is trying to trigger emotion from the USF faithful to wake up, open your eyes, and make it happen.

Spending a fifth year with a coach that clearly 'doesn't get it' who blames Dojo's departure on a 10-23 season-- are you fu*kin serious, sure I could see going 16-17 and just missing the tourney on the loss, but going 10-23 into meltdown is not the fault of one departing player, no way.  Fennelly is trying to get USF and it's fans to start showing emotion for USF hoops and sports...but kinda playing reverse psychology on us to try and incite that defense mode in hopes some of us will stand up for the program.

Coaches getting fired right and left this week with less time under tenure then Stan, and better records.  Based on that alone that tells you USF is not living up to the billing.

Fennelly is not a bad guy, he's a columnist and as a columnist his job isn't to run around and report news it's to talk about it and incite discussion.  Seems yet again he is spot on and doing his job and that fact is completely blowing over most heads.  I like Martin, and loved the article.
