Why is Fennelly so ridiculously anti-USF?

Fennelly is a columnist. Their job is to invoke emotion from their readers ... whether it's the story of the homeless, half blind orphan pitching a no-hitter to win the state champioship and securing a full ride to college or the shooting-fish-in-a-barrel mentality of tweaking the noses of the local sports fans ... It's what they do and MF is a master at it.

Agreed.  But Fennelly's often controversial just for the sake of being controversial, to sell papers.  We (USF) get so little positive coverage by sports columnists, so it's frustrating when we get lampooned the day after a big win in the Big East tourney.  He could have at least waited until USF got booted.

No, he's not.

It's possible to do inspire discussion intelligently and thoughtfully, but he instead resorts to empty, thoughtless rhetoric. It's the crutch of someone who wants to sound like a person worth taking seriously, but doesn't have any knowledge of the subject at hand.

Fennelly is one of the many reasons why that rag is going out of business... he is either a Gaytard or Noles fan that is too dumb and stupid to work for his alma mater and is stuck down here in Tampa until the "Big League" call him up to the promised land.

This is no different then tv or radio here in Tampa... none of them are Bulls fans, none have graduated from USF, and with the exception with the now retired Bob Hite, and dead Tom McEwen, none are from Florida, much less Tampa.

Its all stupid... UF papers hire UF grads... UF tv channels hire UF grads... Tampa papers hire anyone but USF, UT, or Saint Leo grads, Tampa tv channels hire anyone but USF, UT, or Saint Leo grads.

Blind leading the blind...

They can't get anybody else desperate enough to move to that cesspool known as Gainesville ...(w/apologies to the couple Bulls fans on here stuck there  ;)  )

Off the top of my head, the Trib's Joey Johnston, Joe Henderson and Adam Adkins are all USF grads. There may be more ...

McEwen's gone? Wow. i used to love reading his "food" stories, "Over a breakfast of Grapefruit juice, one poached egg, rye toast, etc etc"

Not really gone yet http://www.tboblogs.com/index.php/sports/related/C660/  but his breakfasts are all probably pretty much pureed now.
