I guess this means the Stan Heath haters aren't going to get their way for a few years

So, how long is it, if ever, before we have a Jim Leavitt appearance at a football game? Also, if it happens, how will he be received by the crowd?

25th Anniversary.  Prolonged standing ovation.

Agreed. I don't think he was the man to take us to the next level, but he got us this far and I wish the terms on which he left were better.

Completely agree. I'd hate to see the way he left cause him to not be remembered for all he did for us.

so since he settled...does he still have baggage? How would other colleges view this whole ordeal? Just wondering.

Well Greg mentioned in his blog that there are rumors he could end up back at KSU. Makes sense since he had a relationship with Snyder already. Put in a couple of years with no problems, he could probably land a HC gig somewhere.

Former USF coach Jim Leavitt is getting mentioned quite a bit as a possible defensive hire at Kansas State, where he could eventually succeed 71-year-old Bill Snyder, who he worked under before coming to USF in 1995. Leavitt said he would "plead the fifth" when asked about the opening this week.

CJL is rumoured to being going to Kansas State as an assistant and eventual replacement for Coach Synder.

For all that was made out about this.....this is getting almost NO coverage nationally. ESPN has this down as like the 10th article on their College Football Page.....not the front page. Just a little AP blurb.

This is basically how the Kansas situation was handled from the start.....I wonder if USF knew now what it knew then.....would it just have been easier to present CJL a settlement from the start? Did they have that kind of money available then? Or did it require dragging this out before both sides accepted this was probably in the best interests of everybody?

"There is no inherent fear among this group of players. The fear of failing drove the program from day one - the fear of failing the coaches, the fan base, the university, each teammate, themselves. Now, as we head into the biggest game in our history at home on a national stage against the highest ranked team to step on OUR field, the players are taking an introspective look at themselves. Unfortunately, I don't know if they get it. They lack the fear."
