USF is off to one the best starts of any football program in history.  We have done it without any facilities, without a huge atheltic budget, and without a major conference.  Yes, we are having a down year and there will be more to come.  If we had a qb that could throw better than 1 for 17 and 1 INT we would not be 2-4.  We probably don't lose to S. Miss and Army at home.  UL is a better team than us this year. Period.  Even if we had a four star qb at the helm, I don't think we come out of there with a win.  Give Jim and the boys a chance and some credit.  My beef right now is with the trash talking and thuggery,  not the fact that we lost to a better team last night.

Leavitt has been a good coach for us thus far.  One of the key influences on whether we should consider firing is how his team ends the season, and more importantly if it ends it poorly WHAT WILL HE DO TO CHANGE IT in the offseason.  Will he can Hobbie?  That gives him points in my eyes.  Does he make personnel changes?  Does the D play with more discipline by the end of the year?  How does he do in recruiting?  Those are questions that all need to be answered to fire a coach.

Up until this year, Leavitt has managed to answer most of those in a positive manner.  If USF football continues to be lame for another year and a half, AND leavitt doesnt make the changes, THEN AND ONLY THEN should we can our HC.  Of course, lots of people should be taking heat for what's going on right now, but Leavitt is not one of them...

No Leavitt stays, one bad year since he started this program is NOT reason for it. But i would like to see changes in OC, no way our calls are to the level needed to compete in 1A

The sad part about it is that Judy is so **** moist over this guy that she'll never be able to see what an over-rated 1A coach she has made him.  At best, he should be a coordinator for a 1-AA school to give himself some time to learn.

$450,000 per for this guy?  Gimme a break!   ::)

Run on back to your teen-age boy porn site where you'll be more appreciated ........

When Leavitt became an assistant at Kansas State, their defense was ranked 105th in the nation and they were voted the "worst program in the country".  In his final year as defensive coordinator, their defense was 1st in the country.  That year, they had over ten players in their two-deep on defense alone that were from Florida.

USF needs a quarterback who can throw and receivers that can catch.

I know I have been very critical of CJL lately, mostly out of frustration from the recent play of the team, and a few bad coaching decisions, but I don't think we should get rid of him.

Unless... there are no personnel changes in the offseason.  Then I would say he is completly blind, and is not fit to be coaching at this level.  Someone has to have a sitdown with him and tell him this loyalty thing is nice in the movies but doesnt always fly in real life.  If it wasnt obvious last season (which to some it was pretty apparent) then it is certainly obvious now.

I think with his ability to recruit we should have our best recruiting season to date which should help a lot coupled with some big changes on the coaching staff and we will be headed in the right direction.

But I am serious about the no personnel change thing, I say if there are no changes in the off season, there is no more slack for Leavitt.  Does anyone else feel this way?

OK...I'll play.

Outline your changes, and don't just go vague on "new Offensive Coordinator".

You have to supply a name...a specific OC that you think can be brought to USF. And don't post something like "Let's see if we can get QBx to trasfer from school-x and play for the  Bulls".  If you've got legit ideas...here's your chance to post 'em.

Remember...just because it's new doesn't make it better. The OC doesn't call all the shots, he still has to answer to the head coach (again, JL).  And it is your head coach that "paints" the team (he's never going to hire a co-ordinator or position coach that is 180 from his coaching philosophy).

Bottom line: USF does not - this year - have the talent we have enjoyed in the past. There is no J.R.Reed, Shurron Pierson, or Marquel Blackwell...so the losses do not necessarily point to the constant (coaching) as much as they do the the variable (players).  8)
