With all the talk of bowls and where we want to travel, here is some food for thought.

Pizza Bowl  $325,000

Meineke Bowl $750,000

Sun Bowl      $1.9 Million

Gator Bowl    $2.5 Million

I still want the Gator and have no desire to see El Paso ever again, but $1.2 Million left on the table may be too much to overlook for a growing program.

Jim correct me if im wrong, isnt the BE a conference that puts the money in a pot and slices it up?

it works on percentages---- the team that plays the BCS bowl gets a larger cut--- just like what they do with people who move games to Thursday and Friday nights get more of the TV contract

I believe they pool all money, and then pay direct expenses and also pay out based upon where in the conference you finished.  rest is split 8 ways.

The Big East pays schools that make a bowl game on a tiered basis, with a BCS game worth $2.4 million, the second bowl $1.6 million, the third $1.3 million and the fourth and fifth $1.1 million. "We just take all our bowl money, put it together, and we distribute it fairly," said associate commissioner Nick Carparelli, adding that the league wants to make sure schools can cover their expenses.

Don't forget the International Bowl.......which may be our destination.

Sun Bowl is only a possibility for us if UConn beats WVU and both get a BCS bid, else UConn is going to the Sun Bowl.

Cincy is a lock for the Papa Johns bowl.

Rutgers is likely going to the Meineke Bowl.

USF is likely going to the International Bowl.

I think Rutgers and USF should flip flop spots but I don't think the Meineke wants us back with only a 1 year absence.

FSU vs USF in the Meineke would bring at least 10,000 USF fans.

Every year it seems like we "almost" get two schools in the BCS.  Can you imagine what that would mean financially for the conference if we coudl start doing it consistently?  It is one thing when you have 12 schools and get 2 BCS games, but 2 appearances split only 8 ways... $$$$$.  One benefit of being a smaller conference.

I doubt both UConn and WVU get into a BCS bowl if UCONN wins, i see Gator asking WVU if they lose and sun asking UCONN if they lose.

Also, why would the International Bowl ask USF?  If it comes down to USF or Cincy in the international, they piick cincy, closer, and how many bulls fans would want to see us play in Toronto against a non  BCS conferance foe.
