The 77 Bucs defense was decent at best and the 76 Buc D was HORRIBLE ....Nevertheless, he does have a point. I'll remind you all of a certain NFC championship in which an offense-less bucs team came up a little short. Actually, they had a top 10 defense numerous times in that stretch with dungy, and yet usually got spanked early on in the playoffs.They also came into wildcard weekend with the #1 D this year, i think. That never changed, yet they lost giving up 120 yards. Teams DO need an O. Otherwise, the other team can just punt it every possesion and let the more inept offense turn it over for great field position.Defense doesnt win championships by itself. Teams do. BullDoug Posted January 13, 2006 Group: Member Topic Count: 469 Content Count: 4,451 Reputation: 52 Days Won: 0 Joined: 12/27/2001 Share Posted January 13, 2006 WVU, Pitt & UL will be the BE elite.  They will have the QBs.  I'm not sure about WVU's D and graduation but all three have QBs for the O systems being run.  I put USF, UCONN & Rutgers on the next level.  I believe these teams could be one of the top three at home.  On the road, it will be a tuff task but possible.  'Cuse & Cinci should struggle again but Cinci has the best chance to rise above its '05 performance IMO.If USF does get better offensive play which is a big if considering the QB's decision making and WRs hands are all suspect and the OL and RB are an unknowns.  The D may be the best ever if the DL plays up to USF expectations.  Replacing Royals & the Jones (especially Tim) will not be easy.
