Thre's a part of me that thinks that even if you do OBTAIN better talent, the real heavy lifting is RETAINIG said talent in the more challenging portal/nil era. Human nature being what it is, there are more forces at work than the let's-go-team! environment of yesteryear. If things aren't panning out here, no reason not to turn in my papers and head over there. Why stick around for four years hoping that I might get a highlight reel in year four? Striking while the iron is hot and all of that..🤨

Yes.  Portal gives and the portal takes.

Problem we give up good quality players to the portal, then get players who weren’t good enough to start at their previous school.

Now that is the quote of the week, it is a portal potty for us.  We giveth quality (at times) and we taketh in the ass all the time.

Hell I am betting on Liberty and FAU today, would have bet on this one as well but no line due to FCS trash.

Hope we can be the equivalent of the Tampa Bay Rays. The Rays are great at taking pitchers nobody wants and making them successful.

It’s just gonna be tough seeing all your proven quality players leave each year while hoping some of the players coming in can take their place.

It’s portal potty for pretty much everyone but the top 25 or so teams.

I'm afraid that we'd better get used to it.  With the ease of the transfer portal, it's happening all over cfb.  We could build a reputation of player development (like the Rays) and embrace being transfer U.  Let's roll with it.

“In my mind, I’m kind of like, ‘OK, excuses over'. We know what we need to do. We’ve got the right team together, and now we move forward, and we’ll evaluate and be accountable to each other, including myself, from this point forward.”
