And this year ...... but think you're right and will be a rarity going forward.

It's been a rarity for 20+ years ... teams in the G5 play an FCS team to get a guaranteed win and often want to get another win against another G5... few G5 teams play 3 P5... but it does happen.

And if you're counting BYU as the third P5, by that measure USF is playing six P5 teams this year and only 5 G5 teams.

Why would anyone count them, UCF, Houston or Cincy as a P5?

Because they will be P5 next year.

Because, at one point, BYU was considered a P5 for ooc scheduling purposes for most P5 conferences. Assumed it would be the same for us, if that is still in effect.

Ok well I'll give you that for BYU, but not for the other three.

Yea, but not this year. You don't get declared P5 just because in the future you are going to be included.

Exactly ...... hell, I'll have a hard time calling them P5 even when they are.

Good point. But remember, even though they take 6 conference champs, only the top 4 get a first round bye. So they could still have a way separate the unwashed masses if one P5 gets canabilized.

While that's true, they'll still have to play the unwashed masses at some point in the playoffs.
