Change that to “fortunately” please…

Nah. I don't want to see him go, but it has to happen.

How long is his contract for? And who should we go after next?

Also, I am not too knowledgeable  of basketball. What is our style of basketball, and what is the current “meta” of college basketball?

It’s weird because, it seems like basketball players don’t really stick around long if I am understanding correctly? At least at our program.

I pulled the stats between last year and this year for both players that left and the newcomers. It's not great.

First, the departures. Castaneda, Collins, and Williams have all taken big steps forward in their shooting percentages. Collins's stats are the most drastic with a 5 point increase in FG% and 10(!) point increase in 3FG%. Of the 8 departures I was able to track, Yetna is the only one who has taken a step back.

For the newcomers, each of the 6 who played last season have seen both FG% and 3FG% fall off. Greene and Boggs are the most painful with 8 and 16 percentage point drops in their 3FG%. The average point drop in FG% is 8.5.

It’s ok, I expect it. I legit don’t know much about basketball though. It’s hard for me to get into, games are fun to go to though. Lot of open seats, 😂

CSH and CBG were both from the Tom izzo coaching tree.  Obviously that’s not working so maybe we should look somewhere else on the next coaching search.  Perhaps the Coach K tree.  They seem to be having some success.

I find it interesting that the one most would have wished stayed is the one who regressed, based on shooting %'s anyway.

CBG has had enough time to turn this team around and he hasn't progressed them since the CBI tournament win in 2019.  What I thought was a stepping stone to better times was actually a plateau and we've gone downhill ever since.   Time to go.

He is in his 5th year on a 6 year contract. No idea on who is next, we paid this guy 1.1 million a year, should be able to get someone decent for that amount but we probably won’t.

May as well just let him have the last year and fire home after.
