It's been a long time since we've been this competitive with any UConn women's hoops teams. They literally have five girls that are Preseason All-Americans in their lineup that are up for Player of the Year (obviously Buecker is the X-factor for them). Maybe we're better than our 23rd ranking... or UConn is finally going to have a down season (by UConn standards).

Is the gap closing between the have and have not's? Gino must be livid this afternoon - surviving against little ol' USF in hoops. Can't recall last time we had a game against them in single digits. Even the OT game that we lost to them ended up being a double digit loss. Way to leave it on the court ladies.

I think the only way I'm gonna see a winning USF team is to go to the WBB games.

Wow. Either UCONN is no longer a wbb juggernaut, or we have something going on on Fowler Avenue, or this was a complete fluke

We've lost to UConn and UT (Tennessee) by a combined total of 10 points. Maybe something is going on. If this was 15 years ago, I would say our program was on the cusp of being a juggernaut. Let's hope both close losses are indicators of our future.

It would be nice to see them advance past the first weekend of the NCAA's for a change.

For those off work already, the women play #9 Oregon today at 2:30 ET on ESPNU.  No messing with FLOHOOPS necessary.

GO BULLS!

We're a very good team. But the newcomers haven't contributed, yet, as much as was talked about. Hopefully they continue to gel with the rest of the team. Right now all the major contributors are returnees.  If the newbies improve and contribute more we can be pretty good. But size is still a factor against some teams. We went up to the Tenn game and they had us outsized by at least a few inches at every position. They had a ton of blocks including at least 1 3-pointer. The new big transfer from Memphis didn't play in the 2nd half until Shae fouled out. Don't know if there was an injury involved or coaches decision.  Last time I looked at the scoreboard Tenn had 22 offensive rebounds. Tenn came back to beat Texas in OT yesterday so they are a legit team and play really good defense.

USF is most definitely a legit top team this season. Arguably our best player, Tsineke, had an off night against Oregon, but others were good enough to step up their games to make up the difference. Oregon was missing some key starters, so it's not like we faced the "real" #9 team. But... I do think this USF squad will make some serious noise in the tournament this year. If you've never tuned in to women's hoops, you may want to give this team a chance to win you over. 🤘
