fsu university president is saying it's going to be hard to stay in the ACC if revenue stays that way it is on this board meeting. Said they've been trying to figure it out for a year as to how they can increase revenue

this is the first of many tv deals that will look like this. revenues are going to collapse for sports programming when they don't get those extra carriage fees from the cable companies.

it will be easy to see who drives the subscriptions when only those that watch will pay.

I like this repeated line of thinking that you can't compete unless you're the king of the (money) hill.  Well, there's usually only one king of the hill and only a few that can topple that king - not everybody that plays has to (or can) have the highest revenue*.  Maybe instead of asking for a way to break a contract to get more money, go the cheap route, get some rule-making and agreements.  This is college football, not a professional league and even they have rules.  CFB needs to be reigned in.  They will continue to lose money on a gross basis in this completely broken model.

I think CFB administrators have been sitting around watching too many Walgreen's theft videos lately.  Lead don't pillage!!  

 

* Everyone's favorite showed just that.  Go undefeated without money in a crappy conference and you too can call yourself a National Champion.

Drew Weatherford basically asked that question:  "Do we want to compete at the highest level or do we just want to play some games."

And their other Trustees mentioned that it's not just about football... it affects all of their sports.

The Rays come to mind.  They compete at a high level on a low budget.  Quite often these days.  FSU needs top dollar to be somewhat successful?  LOL. 

Give us $60 million and we'll have 8 former coaches we're paying.  

It's a heist.

 

Let's do away with scholarships and just have a free market pro-am football league.  I'm good with that.
