While everyone is expecting chaos, I think in the near term maybe the following happens:

- PAC-12 sticks together and replaces USC and UCLA with the two best Big XII schools that are embarrassed to be in the same conference as UCF and BYU (I’m thinking UK and OSU)

- Big XII replaces UK and OSU with USF and Memphis

- ND finally joins the B10 but otherwise the B10 stops expanding

- Only way any ACC teams leave is for SEC or B10 money (due to GoR), but neither is expanding any further

Just my musings, which may be right or wrong. No sources…

This could be okay for USF... a pathway to the big 12 because it would be back in "5th" place.

Reporting from John Canzano on Tuesday pointed to Pac-12 talks with another conference. While no specific answer emerged, the Big 12 didn’t seem to be the target.

Elaborate on your point please.

It is KU but otherwise you are spot on and exactly what I am hearing from my sources.

"The ACC’s television markets include Boston, Atlanta, Washington D.C., Miami, Tampa, Louisville and Orlando, among others."

How so, via FSU?

Makes sense for ESPN to be involved in dealing with PAC and ACC. They could throw a few more bucks at ACC and screw the Big12 after the nasty affair they had with them.

Waiting for PAC to go on the offense…or at least try.

This is how we need it to go down....I just don't see PAC teams joining the BIG a conference that had to settle to adding G5 teams.

Big Ten is done for now... maybe they get ND and one more. Maybe not.  SEC is done for now... not interested in taking on the GoR battle.  Big Ten and SEC agree to their own Playoff.

ACC and Pac 12 form a semi-formal "alliance" as described, with their own playoff.

That leaves us back where we started a week ago.

Big 12 is left holding the bag... they have 12 teams and no real options to add teams from the other 4 "Power 5" conferences... but they will need more inventory for their TV contract -- so they need to add teams... and the list would be fairly short - some AAC teams and some MWC teams.

Nothing is guaranteed ... but the there would be some incentive for the Big 12 to expand to have more inventory.
