I think the most likely scenario if Aresco sits on his hands will be:

  • The PAC-12 expands to 16 and finally gets Texas, Texas Tech, Oklahoma and Oklahoma State
  • Smelling blood in the water the Big Ten gets to 16 schools by adding two AAU schools in Kansas and Syracuse.
  • Seeing the landscape change, Notre Dame joins the ACC as a full time member

At this point the ACC and SEC would be at 14 teams each and could match the PAC 12 (16) and the Big Ten and go to 16 teams or stand pat. I think both would be likely to stand pat, forcing the Big 12 and their remaining 5 teams to hand pick AAC teams to join, looking something like this:

Eastern Division

  • West Virginia
  • UConn
  • Temple
  • Cincinnati
  • East Carolina
  • USF
  • UCF

Western Division

  • Houston
  • Memphis
  • SMU
  • TCU
  • Kansas State
  • Iowa State
  • Baylor

Navy, Witchita State,, Tulane and Tulsa would shuffle off to other conferences.

But TCU is going to the sec 🤔

What if..........

lets say that the the P5 becomes the P4 as many have advocated above. Then let’s say the P4 indicates they intend to break away from the NCAA and form their own athletic govern body.

1. Can the AAC do anything (legally)?

2. What impact does this have on the AAC in general and USF specifically (do we just die away)?

The ACC is over. No Jimbo, no Lamar Jackson, Clemson isn’t that good, coaches blowing up on refs, they have nothing left http://www.espn.com/nfl/draft2018/story/_/id/21967537/louisville-cardinals-qb-lamar-jackson-declares-nfl-draft

Behind closed doors, the BigXII probably doesn't care. I don't particularly care for the apologetics-type approach or politicizing the issue, but using the media to add a little pressure may be useful at this point.

Good point he made here:

"Obviously with ESPN as the media partner for the College Football Playoff, I also just wanted to show how important the geography of central Florida is to ESPN's parent company (Disney)," Olszewski said.

Like this is going to have any impact.

Let's see what the Magic Eight Ball says....

Pretty pathetic how far we've fallen. It used to be us in the big east keeping ucf out, now they're so far past us is our only hope of moving up is if they get an invite and bring us with them.

We never had the power to block them from getting into the Big East by ourselves.  That narrative is still ridiculous
