We are upgrading and you will see some different things over the next week.  Shouldn't be any major interruption, but there might be an error here and there or a screen that displays differently or wrong.  Please post on this thread any error you see or anything you have questions about.

Hi Brad:

I see the new "rank" badges.  How do these work?  I swear, mine has gone up 2 levels in the last 3 days.  I notice people who have 000s more posts than me (but haven't been around as many years), and I outrank them.   Can you give us a hint on how the rank system works (or will work) and if it means anything?

Thanks for the question.  A couple things to know:

1)  With this site being 20+ years old and 1,800,000 posts, there are background processes running to tally ranks and apply badges...it is still running and will change for individuals until complete.

2) The rank qualifiers are "out of the box".  There is no doubt that before long they will be tailored to our community.  So, wherever anyone ends up over next week or so, there will be further change later....we'll also look to create some less-generic, site-themed badges.
