USF Volleyball Swept by FGCU

I know we have a new coach, so I will give them a pass for the year BUT there shouldn’t be any reason any of our sport teams should be consistently losing to schools like FGCU.

they lost both matches 3-2 and 3-0

and this has been a pattern not only in this sport for too many years.

FGCU has done a really nice job with its athletic programs. In a very short period of time, they’ve become competitive in just about every sport. This volleyball team went 27-5 last year, beat SDSU, Auburn, Miami, UCF and they returned most of that roster. Credit where it’s due.

Kudos to 5hem, so then let’s hire their coaches and Athletic Staff. USF should always be more competitive than FGCU. If we aren’t then something is wrong

BTW this game was on ESPN+. Nice to be able to watch most of the Olympic sports this year.  Would be nicer if they were victories.

There's some nice hs vb programs in that sw Florida area and in checking their roster they've got several players from that ares on there ...

We've done that with the men's soccer coach.

Women’s soccer beat fgcu 1-0 in their exhibition game. Men’s soccer lost 2-0 to fiu in exhibition game

Yes, something is wrong. I think we read about it here every day. The reality is that USF has put the vast majority of its efforts and resources into raising its academic profile over the past couple of decades - with impressive success. Maybe a time will come when athletics begins to get some preference. Maybe. While we have no effect on USF getting preeminent status or Phi Beta Kappa, Athletics is an area we can absolutely influence with our support.

Losing Coach Keifer was a tough one for the men’s program.
