Actually you all are crazy to downplay the portal. Take a look at SMU...nine of their starters were achieved that way including their star QB. I say load up on those players.

The portal is definitely a useful tool, but relying on it to build a starting lineup in your 3rd season as a head coach just screams piss-poor recruiting.

True the defense has zero excuses. Most of that side of the ball has been here for 3 years and has regressed.

Charlie will make the excuse that he can’t recruit good players without the IPF and better facilities but it points to the fact that throughout all of CCS career, he generally only has had success when his team was vastly more talented than the opponent and still sometimes he found ways to lose. Like the 2017 game against UH or his 2013 loss to UCF with Bridgewater and Co.
