In one of his first interviews here, Charlie mentioned slowing the offense down to give the defense a rest. I remember that being a red flag for some.

It was a red flag for me...Until I saw the offense go tempo just to call another inside run time and time again over the last two seasons.  The defense above only works if you didn't watch the games and missed Gilbert keeping the offense in tempo, even in situations where we just gave up long drives, week after week.  I don't think it was a coincidence that in his introductory presser Bell mentioned his offense "doesn't go fast for the sake of going fast"  I think that was a bit of a shot at Gilbert. In a vacuum that comment by CCS is pretty damning but it doesn't exist in a vacuum there are hours upon hours of tape showing our offense going fast just because it wanted to go fast.....

That was the day we transitioned to the "Slow Coast" Offense.
