You can’t get your team prepared for the biggest game(s) you have all season?

There are no "biggest game(s)" in terms of preparing a team.  You prepare for them all or you're irrelevant.

This is still my biggest concern for the program under CCS.  We've come out and looked like we wanted to kick ass for one game in two years (IMO, Temple 2017 - somewhat UCF 2017 too).

Well, he’s half right. He’s forgetting that we didn’t look prepared all of last year too!! We have looked sloppy ever since our visit to San Jose, and never improved. He just isn’t cut out as a HC anymore.

I like this response a lot better than we just don’t have the talent to compete with UCF, anyone should be ashamed to say that.

I think you’re right... he’s lost his fire...

Anytime as a coach you say, "We just weren't prepared" as much a Strong said it this season you are essentially saying, "I suck as a head coach"

This is true but I respect this a lot more than excuse making and finger pointing. It shows a more growth orientated mindset of "I can do more." Rather than "There isn't anything I can do because I'm not to blame."

I know if my boss confronts me (maybe twice in the past two years) I'll own up if I was slacking.

Be honest with yourself, your ability, your under achievement, is the only way to grow. Making excuses and deflecting halts growth.

But it does I believe hint at a lacking focus or simply laziness as being the root cause. It's admitting you've only been giving 80% instead of 100%... and what employer wants that?

Perhaps our "fans" weren't prepared for the season.

They were prepared to be the Golden Knight Slayers, and AAC Champions.

I was expecting 8 wins max going in to game 1. So I was prepared, though I was maybe hoping for 9 or 10 wins when we started 7-0.

You’re fired!!  There’s no room for slackers.

I don’t think he’s lost his “fire”, as much as he’s just lost his shine. He’s living off the brand name and people are realizing he’s simply not what he was hyped up to be.

I'll wait to see what Strong does next.  I know as quickly as a coach is hated, he's loved.  If we got the right OC, I think we could win the conference.  I think BJM will have his best defensive team next season... lots of moving parts this year that will be settled positions next season.  I've actually had to reconsider what I thought about Reaves at LB.  I think him and Sawtelle will be the starters next season and that would be a pretty solid starting group.  If you put the talent on offense in the right hands, USF could be in a really good spot next season.  So I'm open to seeing what Charlie does next season.  Typically the 3rd is the best.
