Sorry for the long post everybody, but I just wanted to get this out. Apologies for the long read, but I hope those who get through it find a good takeaway or at least some value in it.

Hey guys, I probably shouldn't be paying attention to the trolls on the interwebs who mock us.... but can we seriously cut this crap out? Our entire fanbase and program are getting roasted on Twitter by the sentiment of those who started this thread. 

For those who were around during the BE glory years, I get it. The program isn't what it was. Unfortunately, I dont really know what those years felt like - I went to USF from 2010-2014. Unlike some of my cohort, I looked forward to tailgating and cheering for a Bulls team even when it wasn't very watchable or entertaining and when it made the bump down to the AAC. USF gave me some of the best years of my life - football included. Even though it was frustrating to endure for my entire group of friends, I felt like we became a closer crew for going through the struggle of sitting through some challenging seasons. For some reason, I feel like that when I meet complete strangers who support our team. 

Little did I know then, that the failures of that era would make me a more loyal fan now that they are seeing success. I remember being in a couple of classes with football players during my senior year (when the team went 2 -10) and looking at the stress and anguish on the players faces during class, as if the other students were judging them for not being good - as if they had failed us. It crushed me, because they were some of the most dedicated guys I've been around. It gave me a sense of what it was like to be them in a way - just a kid trying to play a game and make it, but facing some adversity along the way. Now that I am out of school and see the players' success - even if it is in a "lower league" - I feel so happy for them. Even if I don't know them or get to meet them, I know that they bleed green and gold just like I do - just like everyone here on this blog does - and it makes me hopeful for the program.

Now a few years out of school - I still look back fondly on all my memories of USF football during my post grad life and their stint in the AAC so far. The feeling in the stadium during the beatdown of Temple and Cincy in 2015, the excitement of playing FSU at home in 2016  (and that entire 11-2 season), the heartbreak of losing to UCF this past year (I cut Thanksgiving with my GF's family short to fly back to Orlando for that one). Those moments, among others, are ones that I won't forget and that make me appreciate the camaraderie that we all have as USF fans, because regardless of attendance, I do wholeheartedly believe that it is there.  

I recently left Tampa, to pursue a Master's at UNC Chapel Hill and even while at a P5 school, albeit, with a less competitive  football program, I still find myself rooted to USF athletics (yes, even Basketball). Obsessively checking my Twitter on updates during Fall football camp, how the team is progressing, and how the QB competition is shaping up.  Not to mention, many of my classmates went to smaller liberal arts schools with DII or DIII football programs and that makes me a whole lot more grateful for having a DI program that consistently has found a way to win. 

All in all, I guess what I'm saying is that no matter what predicament our program finds itself in (with gripes about an OCS or IPF or whatever) - we should look to the fun that we had, the friendships that we made rooting for fellow Bulls with fellow Bulls, and the experiences that we've had as USF fans as a way to keep the faith and keep hope alive for better days in the future. I hope that those who have lost interest look around at the current era and not think that we are lesser for any reason. For what it's worth, I don't think we have any reason to hold our heads down. 

Can't wait for this season to start and I will be cheering my ass off from afar. Go Bulls.

Also, Jim went around and posted this on every board he could, literally cut and pasted the exact thing is on TOS, and I don't know why.  Maybe he wants attention.  I don't actually care why.  If he doesn't want to go to games and follow the Bulls, then don't.  No need to drag everyone down with him.

That position is admirably being filled by puc at this time ..... but, God bless him, he still does go to games.

If this is true then I am disappointed in Jim. What is the purpose for doing that? Just go away...if you’re out you’re out. Christ, everyone needs attention today....

unfortunately it is true... they actually locked the thread on TOS so it can't be commented on.  You can imagine how that went.

Unreal, really getting sick of the whiners on this board. There is always something...Joyey is not writing nice things...boo ******* who...The AAC sucks...cry me a river...my lifestyle has changed...then stop watching and stop treating your decision as a major media event. Last I checked there are a bunch of USF football players busting their asses everyday in the hot weather preparing to win games and capture our elusive conference championship. I am supporting those guys and my alma mater, as most on this board are doing as well.
