This.

I'm in my 30's and so are most of my friends that are USF fans.   As we've all gotten older some peoples priorities have switched to kids, their own businesses, careers, new hobbies etc.   None of them have completely abandoned the program but they are lucky if they make 1-2 games a year. These are people that would plan all of their fall week's/weekends around going to home games and having a great tailgate and putting together watch parties for away games.  Around the last year of Skip's tenure and the first couple years of CWT's people started to drift away from the program as the team became hard to watch and we became resigned to our conference fate.  Add that in with the usual life changes that come in your late 20's-early 30's .  For some people planning 4-5 months of your life around for games that are basically irrelevant in the grand scheme of college football just isn't an option when your life is filling up with things that are far more important in your daily life.    It's hard for some people to "get up" to see USF play if there's a ceiling on the season's potential.  Not everyone is like me an others here who just want to see USF play and do well no matter our station in the college football world.

The era of the legions of well-heeled older, homogeneous alumni taking their RVs to every game is probably coming to an end throughout all of college football.

If you can’t understand what Leavitt (and others in his tenure) did for this program, you can’t understand why some feel the thrill is gone.  But, we can move on.  This thread is reminding me of Groundhog Day.

Nor does a Lion ever doubt himself like so many in this post. A lion makes himself king of wherever he is. whether it's in the jungle (P5) or a little encasement in a zoo (AAC) and this team and fans need to have a desire to dominate whatever conference we are in.

Lions pretty much just sleep their lives away.

I loved the Leavitt days but it has been a long time since those days. He made a mistake and paid for it. That said he is not coming back. The administration has made some bad decisions and it feels like we are coming back. But it seems like everyone is not on board until we are in a P5 conference and are playing Bama for the national championship. Guess what at that point season tickets wont be a few hundred bucks. They will be thousands. Enjoy the team now and cheer on their growth. It happens in steps not always leaps.

Also do you think a P5 conference is going to pay attention to a team who has season ticket buyers bailing on them? Just saying. Looking forward to another great season. Go Bulls!!!

This was a great read on the first day I've had time to really look at the board in a couple weeks.

I'm not consciously excited, but as someone posted here a long time "I try to keep my emotional investment to just the times the game is on."

That said I had a dream where we beat Elon 95-3, and I didn't even remember Elon was our first game so I guess subconsciously I am somewhat excited.

“In my mind, I’m kind of like, ‘OK, excuses over'. We know what we need to do. We’ve got the right team together, and now we move forward, and we’ll evaluate and be accountable to each other, including myself, from this point forward.”

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.
