I didn't know it was free for students and never attended a game as a student, for that I blame athletics. This is a perfect example of what I was referring to in my original post on an athletics commercial at orientation. Commercials either clue someone into a product they didn't previously know existed, "What?!? You can go to the store and buy paper to clean your anus after pooping?!? I should go buy some of this!" or it convinces you to buy a particular brand of a product you were already going to purchase, "Aloe?!? On toilet paper?!? I'm in, Charmin!" If you're already attending USF, you're either a person who wants to watch football or you're not. Anyone who might go to a football game already knows the product exists and 2 minutes at orientation isn't changing minds. No one is sitting there and the lightbulb goes off, "Football? My institution of higher learning competes in competitions of athletic skill? I am intrigued." Take this guy...it is IMPOSSIBLE to believe he was open to the idea of going to sporting events and never went to a single game because he didn't know how to do it and athletics missed out by not appealing to him at orientation. I read it, maybe next orientation it will happen. It was also mentioned that athletics has been saying that the events are free for students at the orientations. If it was mentioned during my orientation I missed it. Thirdly, you never attended a game because you didn't know that they were free? You never thought to ask how much games were? Sounds like you really weren't that interested to begin with, so would a two minute, "hype" video during your orientation actually change that? You may answer with a, "yes" but I seriously doubt that. Yes! That simple video would have very likely gotten me to a game. 11 hours ago, BucsandBulls said: Take some personal responsibility and blame yourself. I can't only blame myself for not knowing how athletics worked, if they want ppl on the seats they have to do more. You never had a conversation with a single other student about attending a game and they never mentioned it was free? Never Not everything is on athletics to market 100%. Plenty of work has to be done by word of mouth and personal contribution. 10 hours ago, Triple B said: How long ago were you there? I graduated FA/2013 I was an unconventional student who attended HCC first, married with 3 kids in HS and a demanding full time job. I began in 2010 with zero credits and finished in 2013 with a major in Finance and a minor in Int'l Business. Needless to say I regularly slept 3hrs to get a 3.89 GPA. I promise you, if I would have seen that video I would have figure a way to go to a game. My only experience with sports was Rays and Bucs. Since I graduated, I have attended 90% of football home games (only sport my husband cares about), all bowl games and some away games. I invite friends to the games and other events, wear USF gear ALL the time, my RV has a USF tag, I'm almost all about it. Trying to figure out how to get RV parking so I can host small sororities/fraternities at the tailgate. I'm willing to take personal responsibility and try to do more each year, but athletics has to do their part and avoid missing opportunities. Rant over!

It's not only about football. So since it's VERY likely any short commercial during orientation would be 90% football, you'd probably prefer athletics doing something separate in order to highlight all 17 of our sports that could benefit from greater student awareness? Did you ever think to call your USF Ticket Rep, or are you wanting for the AD to reach out to you? I see why you get so many downvotes, you are so charming! I sent an email and received a partial response "having issues locating your account..." I sent a reply back the same day and haven't heard back since. That was 5 days ago. Hard to get that warm fuzzy feeling that athletics is doing their best.
