Yes.

One year ago today he was named the new head coach.

TAMPA, DEC. 11, 2016  – USF Director of Athletics Mark Harlan announced today the appointment of Charlie Strong as the fourth head coach in USF football program history.

Will he make it to year 2?

Yes.

I wouldn't bet on year 3 though.

I have really conflicting emotions about CCS. I think his system will work better next year and it won't be hampering the talents of the players as I felt it did this year. I think his defense will be even better and I want the stability of a coach who stays. On the other hand I'm not sure his system will ever be a perfect fit for Florida talent and his type of football bores me even if it does produce wins. In the perfect world I'd like him here a long time building a killer defense and become more flexible about the offensive talent available in the state.

Still glad to have him, glad he helped get us to a bowl game. Now that he's losing a significant talent core, I'm both eager and reluctant (if that's possible) to see what he can do with the team next year.

Happy Anniversary Coach Strong.   I hope you stay and take this program to new levels.   Please stay and help us get an on campus Stadium built.

Hope you can rebuild this team because the last two years with Q and company have been fun.

As long as the recruiting doesn't drop off we'll be fine.

Glad to have you Coach Strong!

Oh, he can only leave after we have a conference Championship first.   Sorry, that is a requirement.    ;-)

Was so pumped about this hire at the time now I am ambivalent just like he appears to be.

Agreed, and this is why I'm ok whether he decides to stay or go. We all know he can recruit, and I think we'll always have some success with him here, but he is boring, and he isn't a great fit. I do think that we can have a good year in 2018 with decent QB play. Definitely better than the 6-6 team that some in here are expecting...

"There is no inherent fear among this group of players. The fear of failing drove the program from day one - the fear of failing the coaches, the fan base, the university, each teammate, themselves. Now, as we head into the biggest game in our history at home on a national stage against the highest ranked team to step on OUR field, the players are taking an introspective look at themselves. Unfortunately, I don't know if they get it. They lack the fear."
