Sonny Dykes is an "Air Raid" disciple. Coached under Hal Mumme. Was with Mike Leach at Texas Tech, was co-OC with Dana Holgorsen. Then took Tony Franklin with him to La Tech and then to Cal. Tony Franklin then left him in 2015 to take the OC job at Middle Tennessee State. I suspect he wasn't the play caller.

The Air Raid is a lot of fun to watch but I can't say it has been successful. Mike Leach seems to have to have done the best with it. It always seems to go hand in hand with zero defense so the final scores are always like 58-55.

Son of Spike Dykes so the only positive I would give the hire for SMU is he is a Texas guy.

Find it odd that dykes is going to coach the bowl game for smu. The bowl is in 8 days and you have early signing day.

Found that odd too, but maybe he's using it as a way to start evaluating players and, more importantly, audition assistant coaches for next year.

Ehh, All of the Offensive staff is going to arkansas. I figured smu would go after a texas guy.

17 of 22 starters returning. Should win 8-10 and look great. 8 would be the most regular seasons wins for SMU in 34 years.

Of course you are assuming it is not the University of California Dykes who is coaching (his last HC stop).

So Cristobal is named HC.  What does Leavitt do?  FSU makes sense.

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.
