The only way to get fans in the stand is put a good product on the field, bring in bigger teams, and get more Saturday games.

I haven't missed a game in over 10 years, but you're right the Thursday games suck. It took me an hour and a half to get to the stadium from Pinellas County. I will make that drive because I love USF Football, but lots of people won't. Weekends are a lot easier traffic wise. We also cannot ever have a home ooc schedule like we had this year. Unfortunately for us this year even our conference opponents were blah.

I graduated in 09 but I remember the stadium being packed.  When JL got fired the attendance started to decline. Holtz ran the program to the ground. WT built it up but the fans have never really got back into the stadium. I live a little over an hour away and it is hard for me to make all of the Thursday games. I have been to 4 games this year and only one of them was on Thursday. The only way to get fans in the stand is put a good product on the field, bring in bigger teams, and get more Saturday games.

There is an interesting difference of opinions when I talk with people in the program.  People in marketing like the weeknight games when we can get more coverage nationally.  One of the Asst ADs last night talked about how they would love to not have them to get more people in the stands.

How about we play all Thursday night games on the road?

All kidding aside.  If we happen to beat the tinmen, I would rather play in Memphis than at home.  For one, we seem to play better on the road.  Also, I believe attendance will suck for that game as well and it'll be yet another black eye on the university.

Go Memphis!

Unfortunately, I am in that same mindset after sorry turnout last night. IF we somehow manage to get by UCF, I would rather play back to back games against Ranked teams on the road than 1 ranked and a home AACCG

Excellent point. We have played much better on the road this year.

Knight's obsession with attendance is ridiculous. Just report on the game/team.

As your student buddy said last night "This is boring, let's go drinking."

What was the final (actual) attendance number?

6?

The catch-22 on our attendance is; low attendance hurts our chances to get into a P5 conference, but our attendance won't improve much unless we get into a P5 conference.

When your attendance for a 9-1 team, at one of the largest Universities in the country, looks like a bad FCS team's attendance, it is a story. That is the only thing I kept hearing from my friends who were watching the game with me..."where are all the fans!?" We might get exposure from the weeknight games, but it is bad exposure in my mind.

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.
