I think if he were smart, he would stick with FAU a few seasons and try and rehab his reputation a little bit. 

You're probably right about this. I wouldn't mind bringing Kiffin in, but there's probably about zero chance he leaves one G5 school for another one.

BTW, I still like Mario Cristobal. National Recruiter of the Year as an assistant at Alabama, knows, and recruits Florida very well, and he's Willie's OC, so he knows the GCO now. Throw in TJ Weist as OC, and our current DC Jean-Marie, and we'd have the makings of a potentially great staff....and one that's entirely possible  (I think).

They still have to play FIU, who's off to their best ever start. Whooped Marshall a couple of weeks ago. Butch has them playing very well. Both USF-UCF, and FAU-FIU will be the highest profile match up in the history of each rivalry this year.

I really am happy not to think about this for the moment, hope it stays that way. Just NO to Lane, though, do not want that sideshow drama here...

I totally understand this, and there are probably many who would agree with you, but I have a feeling that he'd be lights-out when it comes to recruiting here. There are other fans who would probably take whatever attention we can get. Personally, I'd put up with the sideshow drama that is sure to come with Kiffin. He's a good enough recruiter and coach to overlook the other things he brings.

Slow down.  He's failed at at his previous two HC stops and is coaching in the wasteland that is C-USA.  He's yet to show he can be more than an offensive coordinator at a level above C-USA.

Sumlin is a Texas guy, he wouldn't fit here. How about Manny Diaz or someone else from the Hurricanes coaching staff? They're going to be hot and looking to win for a bigger job. Richt isn't the youngest guy, if he wins a national title at UM I think he could retire satisfied-and there's be a hot, NY6 winning coach in Tampa ready to take the gig from him.
