I have a feeling Sterlin will open up the playbook this weekend.  Houston will be a tough test for us and we'll need to show off some new wrinkles to get the W.  I just hope our D gets back to keeping teams out of the endzone.

Go Bulls!

I sure hope your right.. we need a nice blow out to put some fear in people again.  A lot of people know what we can do but we've yet to put together a complete game.  A la Cincinnati a few years ago.

I'm just hoping for a Win.  A blowout would be nice but I don't see that happening.  Just Win!

Saw some good stuff against Illinois and Tulane. Hoping to see more.

Open it up if necessary. We may be able to keep it vanilla, and still beat Houston. If he's holding anything back, save it for the UCF game if possible. Would be great if they can throw stuff at UCF that they hadn't  seen on film.

Does anyone really think we have kept the playbook “vanilla” on purpose thru 7 games?

Are you calling Sterling one of the most simplistic play callers in d1?

That is the hope. They seem to open it up only when necessary, like the SJSU game when they were in a little trouble for example, or the play call to Tice late in the Tulane game. With our schedule, and the ease with which we are winning most of these games, it's possible. I can't remember a team ever doing anything like that though. It's usually...what you see is what you get.

I would put it this way.... as long as we are controlling the game, it stays vanilla.... it's pretty obvious the greater our lead the more vanilla the plays become.

I do think the play calling and vanilla-ness has varied depending on the flow of the game.

The play calling has been a "force us to do something differently" type of game management. Not, oh let's see how flashy we can get and run through the entire play book.

We have seen a play here or there that was a new look or at least some that are not like the other 95% of what you see.

They have opened it up at times but usually when needed otherwise they are happy with runs up middle and a few passes to keep defense honest when it works.  They seem to open it up more in 2nd and 3rd quarters.
