You mean people aren't jacked for the SEC Championship?

I am because

A) First time these two are meeting this season (not a rematch)

B) They are easily the two most talented teams in the country

The playoffs are working as intended. They increased the likely hood that the top team in the country would win the national championship. Just because the top two teams this season are from opposite divisions in the same country doesn't make it any less meaningful.

Top two teams is so subjective.  There are people that are arguing the Ohio State is one of the top 2 teams.

Ask that question to the PAC 12 and B1G. I think that when they completely abandoned TWO of the P5 conferences the door for change was opened.

So, to answer your question, yes, I do.

Well even if they want to change it, it will take another 10 years for the change to happen according to the current contract (I believe it is 2027 or 28).

Top two teams is code for traditional powers that people want to see.

Working as intended means the selection committee gets to keep out the riff raff and make sure the neighborhood stays the way they want.

...after “selection committee” you can add “and ESPN” as they got to show these teams for a guarantee return on their investment.

Well yes, the entire top end of the College Football Industrial Complex. The broadcasters and those approximately 20 schools.

They don't want anything like the NBA experienced the year the finals consisted of the Detroit Pistons and the Portland Trailblazers and it's rigged so that could never happen.

Based on what, their 30 point loss to Iowa?

The system has been subjective for 100+ years (excluding the decade and a half we had computers calculating it for us, but that wasn't good enough for the average fan).

Right we should have a system like the college basketball tournament. Where we all get excited that every 5th year Duke loses to some Sister Mary, meanwhile at the end of the tournament its still one of the same 7-10 teams who brings home the hardware.

Didn’t Villanova just win the championship? Butler in the championship a few years back. Gonzaga a national power in the mix every year. In a CFP model these teams would be eliminated before the season began.

Not saying I agree, but by that logic, UCF should have been in, as they are the only ones without a loss.  How can anyone objectively not agree with that?  BTW, stating that they had a weak SOS is a subjective argument.  Alabama's was pretty weak too.

"There is no inherent fear among this group of players. The fear of failing drove the program from day one - the fear of failing the coaches, the fan base, the university, each teammate, themselves. Now, as we head into the biggest game in our history at home on a national stage against the highest ranked team to step on OUR field, the players are taking an introspective look at themselves. Unfortunately, I don't know if they get it. They lack the fear."
