Taggart scored 44 a game. Fact. Taggart had one of best offenses in country. Fact. Gilbert hasn't watched film on USF offense or very little. I think/hope/pray your last "fact" is "coach speak" and alluded to that in my original post that everyone is up in arms about (I mentioned he "allegedly" hasn't watched much film). If he's using coach speak, then that's great. Keep arm chair QBs like me surprised. If you take his comments at face value it's idiotic to be anything but concerned. The guy isn't doing his due diligence, if so. I'm willing to believe his comment is coach speak. That said, I don't think my comment was unfair. I prefaced it a lot, coach is giving us nothing else to go off, and it's a slow period where this is the biggest topic. Of course some will dissect it. Considering Taggart flew to Baylor to learn concepts from the guy who taught Gilbert I think we will be ok. The Gulf Coast offense was based on the only offense Gilbert knows how to run. Yup. http://sportsday.dallasnews.com/college-sports/texaslonghorns/2016/02/20/carlton-new-texas-coordinator-sterlin-gilbert-developed-blend-spread-offense Quote Gilbert deferred to his gut. "It's kind of like all these barbecue restaurants around here. It depends on who you talk to," Gilbert said. "It's all barbecue, but there's something a little different -- the wood, the sauce, the sides, all that. It's what you do different." Why ***** about a guy not having tasted 4 Rivers when you know he's serving up Smoke Shack?

To do otherwise would be stupid. So you're going to assume he knows what he's doing, but also declare what he's doing is stupid? USF had about 20 yards a game more than Texas last year. We out rushed them by about 45 yards a game, they put up about 25 yards more a game passing. I think he's got the general idea down on how to run a spread offense. Besides, I heard Gilbert went and talked to the head coach at LA Tech to learn from the guy with the 9th best offense in the country as opposed to CWT's 11th best. The real fact is, you nor anyone else outside of Gilbert and maybe CCS know what he's done to prepare the offense for 2017.
