As I was leaving the parking lot, I was thinking this exact thing, that I personally thought this team was destined for a deep WNIT run based on its youth and the AAC being a tougher conference, particularly Temple. I thought that 2018 the team would return to the NCAA, and in 2019 with Laksa as a Sr. we'd have a top-4 seed and host a couple of games. 20-5 is nothing to sneeze at, and they have a chance to sweep the 3rd best team in the conference Sunday.

I'm not disappointed.  They've exceeded my expectations this year after losing the 3 seniors from last year.  The improvement in Flores, Pujol and Jesperson this season has been marked.  If you add in the injuries suffered this year it is amazing they were ranked as long as they were.  Should still make the NCAA.

Before anyone gets started on this, I want to inoculate the patient

NO.

We would NOT prefer a NIT championship to an NCAA bid.

The goal is ALWAYS to get to the NCAA's, regardless of how early we might exit.

NIT is a poor second choice, regardless of how deep we might go.

Tell that to our gals who won the 2009 WNIT Championship, beating Kansas in their arena (the birthplace of basketball) with 16K+ in attendance.

Yeah and the 27 fans who watched it on tv and the 17 who can remember that the game was even played.

There were more than that at TIA to welcome the Champions back to Tampa.

Emphasis "in Tampa". women's nit is a regional tourney at best. Hope the WBB makes it to the big dance every year. That is where the real coverage and notoriety is found.

Okay, I'll bite.  Searched for birthplace of basketball. Came up with Springfield, Mass as birthplace of BB and Vanderbilt Univ as the birthplace of college basketball.  Can't find Kansas in a quick search. WBB hall of fame in Knoxville, TN. Immaculata for birthplace of Women's college basketball, Smith College in Mass for the beginning of women's basketball in 1892, first intercollegiate WBB was Stanford vs UC Berkeley.  So I'm sure you'll give us a link that supports that.

Ned would have been more accurate in saying he founded U of Kansas basketball. But Kansas wasn't the birthplace of basketball.

Let me guess.

Naismith = founder of basketball, Naismith = founder of U of K basketball therefor basketball was founded in Kansas

God = Love, Love = Blind, Stevie Wonder = Blind therefor Stevie Wonder is God.
