5 years $9.6 mil. Years 1 and 2 at $1 mil each which means $2.6 mil a year for years 3-5. Assistant pool is $1.66 mil this year and goes up to $3.4 mil for years 4 and 5. $2.5 mil buyout through next Year and then $1.7 for the remainder it looks like.

All numbers per Joeys Twitter.

Is 1.66 mill an upgrade over current assistant pool?

So it looks like we were able to back load it and Texas found that acceptable?  Solid.

Surprised they were able to backload the contract like we all hoped. More than double the asst pool over 3 years is very nice too.

So his total comp for years 1 and 2 is something in the neighborhood of 4.5 million because of his Texas buyout? They're entitled to half of his new salary, right?

Looks like a good deal for us. Gives us some time to put away some cash for a huge extension if he does well by year 3.

Correct, so his base pay for years 1 & 2 is 500K.

Some of his assistance have a similar contract to Strong so we are likely back loading their contracts as well.

"There is no inherent fear among this group of players. The fear of failing drove the program from day one - the fear of failing the coaches, the fan base, the university, each teammate, themselves. Now, as we head into the biggest game in our history at home on a national stage against the highest ranked team to step on OUR field, the players are taking an introspective look at themselves. Unfortunately, I don't know if they get it. They lack the fear."
