However, for example, they are giving Navy credit for their win over a ranked team(Houston #6). Neither opponent is currently ranked now(as of this writing), but if the criterion for being ranked is based on polls the day the games were played, its not being applied consistently. How could anyone not close to the program (AP voters) know USF beat a ranked team? Is there another authoritative resource out there for voters to consult for stats like this other than espn.com? http://www.espn.com/college-football/standings/_/group/80 http://www.espn.com/college-football/team/_/id/58/south-florida-bulls http://www.espn.com/college-football/team/_/id/2426/navy-midshipmen

USF would be ranked under that circumstance; However, we just need to win out

Our offensive S&P+ is #2 in the nation, defense is a lot worse. Just not sure what the computer rankings would say honestly. It absolutely sucks being 9-2 and still getting jumped by 3 loss teams. Well, you might want to look at the Massey Football ranking comparison which is a composite over 100 various computer rankings on a weekly basis. At the moment, only 54 have so far sent him in their rankings for posting and based on that, USF is #30. Because there is a difference in methodology by the various systems, there is a wide range of rankings for most teams. The high and low for each team is highlighted. For example, Nolan has USF #12, while Dezenzio TSRS has USF #58. You can click on their links to see how they came up with those numbers. USF has a significant standard deviation of 9.69, which is reflected by the wide disparity among the different computer systems. http://www.masseyratings.com/cf/compare.htm
