It seems exercising any influence would be against ethics laws. A has contracts with B and C. B and C begin talks exploring new business partnership. A uses contract with B to stop Bs partnership with C, it would be in bad faith from the perspective of C. Vice versa is also true if A instead Influences C to not do business with B, it is in bad faith from the perspective of B. How does ESPN get around this glaring conflict?

Could the 11 schools that wasted their time on this disaster get together and sue ESPN and the B12?

If ESPN exercised any influence then I think there is a case, but it is very tricky and might even go both ways. If an AAC member goes to the big 12, it may be against the interest of the relationship the AAC member school had with ESPN? One benefits financially and one doesn't, it's like a zero sum. So do they point at each other and say each acted in band faith of their relationship?

Also hard to prove since I doubt they are leaving a paper trail connecting the dots. Also getting on ESPNs bad side isnt a wise financial move. Minimally we should get the $15k back from the cost and production of the application packet.

ESPN needs more competition, so they can't pull crap like this.
