“I guess they were trying to get their team better,” Montgomery said. “The way we run our program I would have taken a knee, but when you’re the victors you get to choose. I don’t look at them any different than I looked at them earlier.”

Taggart defended the move.

“Where does it say in the rule book you have to take a knee?” Taggart asked. “We wanted to score, period. That’s our job.”

I just thought he was trying to get Flowers more live time practice which he seems to need?

At first, I didn't like that we were throwing with just 10 secs left. I figured we'd take a knee and be done. Why blatantly run it up? It's not like it was Kean in there trying to get some live reps. But then I thought about that Trump ad and I think my response to the ECU fans that say we're classless ..."and you can tell them, to go ____ themselves!"

Our job on Offense is to score ... not run clock.

He was a bit more diplomatic during game the post game interview with Louk...it was more along the lines that we run the same plays if we are winning or losing and trying to play the full 60 mins...maybe someone got him riled up lol

That isn't true.. in that same situation if it is a 5 point game we run clock no doubt. It is absolutely poor sportsmanship and why nearly everyone not associated with either school will rightly be calling us out.

To Willie's absurd point.. nothing in the rule book says you can't point and laugh as your opponents walk of the field either. Not everything can be codified... somethings are just left to the character and decency of the participants. On this day the moment was too great for Willie and our university was not represented well. Hopefully we learn and move on.

As far as motivation.. my best guess is just looking around at the stands Willie felt he needed to build some buzz... not many folks will be talking on Monday about USF knocking off ECU.. but this will at least get some publicity.

It is in the rule book for a coach to forfeit the game at any time also.
