Recruiting

Yep. If we lose almost nobody but USF fans and O-trolls will notice and no harm to the conference goal. If we win it's big for national recognition for a couple seconds but most important, recruiting.

Yeah, I'm just not in that camp, that on the field stuff will have any bearing whatsoever on the B2 decision. Understand the thinking but just don't agree with it ...

I've been seeing this a lot. As if the Big 12 committee gathers for each game and then crosses off a team with a loss. Cincinnati fans were doing the same thing. One game, or even one year, will not be the reason some school is invited. I don't think the Houston win did much of anything except maybe scare Texas a bit.

I understand your point of view, because it's based on precedent, right?  I just think that now the B12 is looking right now for teams that will "add value," and since they apparently have a hard time finding some at the moment, I think a team who is currently under consideration with a statement win over another, considered by many to be competing for a national title this year, would go a long way.

I think it is an important game because we need to show that we have community support and can fill the stadium for the right team.  I think that is more important than the win but the win would not hurt in the least.

You must remember that I'm pretty much hoping that dysfunctional family passes on us and the B1G come calling in the near future ...

Why not position ourselves for the new league on Mars in a couple hundred years?  I hear there is no need for a stadium, you just pick out a nice crater.

FSU game is big for us but our conference championship is more along the lines of "our super bowl"

It IS our super bowl. It's 100% our Super Bowl. While it's not a conference championship, it's the best team we'll face all year long, coming off of 5 horrific losing seasons.

Even if we keep it close and still lose, it's a win for us.

This game is BEYOND our Super Bowl. Let's not be silly here. The risk is minimal if we lose, but the reward is massive if we win. We still talk about the ONE TIME we beat FSU 6 years ago. Who else did we beat that year? Does anyone remember anything about the 2009 season other than the win against FSU?

So yes, 100% absolutely with a cherry on top, this is our Super Bowl & Lottery Ticket all wrapped into one

Maybe, but given the choice, I think most would prefer the conference championship which likely leads to a NY6 bowl over a win against FSU.

Personally, I want both.

Let's ser, 2009... MG was a Sr and got hurt the week before FSU which led to BJ. Joel Miller's Grandma died at some point and Colby Erskin sang like a canary (whether his tune was true or not I don't think we will ever know for sure).

We went bowling like always and had some really activating losses and even a coach with a bloody forehead for the second half of a game. I think that sums up 2009 pretty accurately.

I'd really be more confident this game if the Louisville game had been a close win.  FSU will presumably be more focused than if they had just come off an emotionally draining win.

it's double edged. Sure they may come out with a chip but if we score 1st, especially if we go up by 2 scores before they can answer they may loose all confidence and unravel. With USF having so many offensive weapons, and a really good running game I think we can give them every bit as much a fit as the Ville. No way to predict how this game will go, it could be a tight slugfest or it can run away from them. Either way I feel good about the bulls chances.
