We tried for Dave Rice last time and he turned them down at the last minute. I know someone retired from the UNLV athletic department who still is involved. He said they love Rice there and it would be a huge deal if he left. Did Masiello ever get his degree? Although he didn't have a great season last year. Black mark for Harlan. Disagree, it was quick hire for him, remember he had just gotten hired as the AD then the Masiello deal went down & he felt pressured to make a quick hire. I am not saying Orlando was a bad choice/hire but Harlan definitely gets a "pass" on this one

If he did, then a buyout should not be needed to get rid of him. If he didn't, then it seems like we are either cleaning things up for something like a Big 12 announcement, or it is just another wild rumor. Go Bulls! Or his brother took the fall for him and that coupled with the lack of winning made it an easy choice to get rid of him. Or even to appease the NCAA (see Butch Davis, UNC)

In football, UGA just hired Kirby Smart, Nick Saban's right-hand man with no HC experience . We don't know how it will turn out, but no one is saying, right now, that it is a bad hire. At the time of the hire, it wasn't a bad move.

Not to move off topic, but Skip Holtz was a good hire AT THE TIME. Obviously, it didn't work out, due in part to his inability to recruit in Florida.

The facilities are good, but who knows how many players we will be able to retain. They could essentially be starting from near scratch without considering any additional potential NCAA penalties. I would say he is available. great recruiter and not terrible x and o's.

I don't want to see him go yet... He recruited some really solid players, and I'd hate for the team to disassemble yet again.
