I sure hope every University on that list has local papers reporting this story. Since its such big news!!!

It's a local media outlet looking for hits, views, etc.--that's why it's being pointed out. I think that this is a non-issue that this local media outlet is likely hoping that locals will spin into controversy. What they're reporting is no less true as a result of why you or I think is motivating the local media to cover this.
