I knew what you were saying. For every Cam Newton (which there's about 1), there are a hundred roster fillers. This isn't baseball. You can't grab a JuCo QB and plug him in. There are rarely even decent QBs available that route.

Aaron Rogers, Cam Newton, LeGarrette Blount, Corey Dillon, LaVonte David, Jacquian Williams, Jason Pierre-Paul, Nick Fairley, Cortez Kennedy, Michael Williams, Josh Heupel, Mike Rozier, Roger Staubach, OJ SImpson (sorry Nicole and Ron), etc, etc, etc.

The NFL has a healthy quantity of players that spent some early time at JUCO's.  Funny and ignorant is no way to go through life JTrue, try a little research prior to sticking your sizable Keds in your blow hole.

Roger Staubach was prep school to prepare for the Naval Academy. Slightly different than juco.

Also, Cam Newton went JuCo because he stole laptops at UF.

My point was in the past 2-3 years, I can't think of any JuCo QBs that would have improved our situation (assuming that you can convince them to come).

Pointing out the exceptions to prove your point is a poor way of debating a subject.

To recap:

Are all JuCo players terrible?  No, we have luck with some JuCo transfers

Are all JuCo QBs terrible?  No, there are a few that become impact players.

Where there any JuCo QBs available to us that would have made an impact here in the last 2-3 years?  I don't think so.

And to the original statement, where there two JuCo QBs available to us (as smazza contends) that would have made an impact?  Absolutely not.

We had a kid in our own back yard that has shown much improvement in his 2nd year at FIU  http://www.foxsports.com/college-football/alex-mcgough-player

Same with Chad Kelly at Ole Miss. He was kicked off the team at Clemson. Both of those kids were never coming here out of high school due to bring elite prospects and then only used JUCO to try to repair their image to go back to another top tier school. Neither of those kids are relevant to USF finding a good Juco QB because neither of those kids were ever going to consider USF. At USF's current place in the pecking order there were no good Juco QBs available in the last couple of recruiting cycles. As much as some like to make it seem like any program can just stroll into the Juco store and stop by aisle 5 and find a competent QB that's not the reality of the situation.

Yeah, I liked him coming out and thought he could've been a nice second QB in that class. Unfortunately USF sat on its hands too long in his recruitment.

You should also put a pair of Zips in your mouth. Or Roos. I had an awesome pair of Roos when I was in kindergarten.

"There is no inherent fear among this group of players. The fear of failing drove the program from day one - the fear of failing the coaches, the fan base, the university, each teammate, themselves. Now, as we head into the biggest game in our history at home on a national stage against the highest ranked team to step on OUR field, the players are taking an introspective look at themselves. Unfortunately, I don't know if they get it. They lack the fear."

    Terry Lucas, 09/26/22
