However, she is getting paid FAR too much.

Her compensation does not correlate to the progress of USF as an institution.

Very import are what factors they are using to determine rankings

This ranking is NOT based on pure academics/research/etc

Ranking factors. The remaining colleges were ranked on 21 factors in three equally weighted categories: educational quality, affordability, and alumni earnings from PayScale.com.

  • Special value measure. Included: a "value added" grade that considered how well students at each school did vs. what would be expected given their economic and academic backgrounds and the institution's mix of majors.
  • Focus on affordability. Among the factors considered: merit aid, parent and student borrowing, the length of time to graduate, tuition increases, and other measures.

So basically any school who's Alumni stay/live in an area with low CoL is already hurt due to the PayScale criteria.

We are lower than other Florida schools due to Graduation rates (the length of time to graduate,) which USF has now set as a top target.

I really have no idea how UCF ranks so much better than USF.

However, Judy is still paid too much

Our mediocre academic reputation is the biggest hurdle to us getting invited to a P5 conference:

Seven years ago, Wilcox said, USF created student-run focus groups to find out why elite students were overlooking the university. One of the major reasons: USF's mediocre academic reputation.

Dr. Genshaft has worked tirelessly in changing that reality.  We could 12-0 in football the next three years and it wouldn't matter 1/10 as much as our academic standing.

Performance on the field/courts is only part of the equation.

Thank you Dr. Genshaft.  Keep up the great work!

On point, from the Alumni board ... USF targets Tampa Bay's top students, closes gap with UF

That ranking is full of it. UF is currently trying to raid our STEM departments, they just poached Dr. Plowman. Talking to the professors in my department they think that we are the only school (in the state) that competitive with them in the health science arena. They think ucf is still a few years out. They also acknowledge that UF's hegemony is waining as the schools in urban areas gain resources and begin utilizing the cities to their advantages.

Good back-up.

Let's all remember that Skip's kids and CWT's kids have been held to a slightly higher academic standard than that of CJL's while he was here.

We want to win but would like to send knowledgeable kids out in the workplace as well.

We need to pay very close attention to the academic piece of the puzzle over the next five years.  This will be our ticket to a P5.  It's far more important than the W and L pieces.  We need UCF to be right there with us, or us right there with them (a matter of viewpoint) with academics.  We would then be ripe to slide into the Big 10 with our arch rivals.

I was with you until I read, "Big 10"
