  1. Looks like Patchan already has plans to play final year either at Ohio State with Urban, or at Boston College with Addazio. Saunders makes a little more sense -- he has to sit one year to play his final two, but as a safety from DeLand, he has to know Mark Joyce well ...
  2. Sorry guys. We have Joe Smith covering, so we'll have coverage up later after game's over ...
  3. Just look at the kid's Twitter feed. Not that hard, guys ... https://twitter.com/TheReal_SlickP
  4. Kinnan is a legend, but I don't think he's joining the USF staff. He's a year away from his 50th reunion graduating from Manatee. I had asked him about an administrative position like a director of high school relations, and he said he didn't see himself in such a role.
  5. As a general rule, if there's a bald head blocking a camera at a USF event, I can stake claim to that, yes. Thanks all for the kind words ...
  6. Guys, appreciate the kind words. Only thing better would be ... uncomplicated progress on coaching search. (Not USF's fault. They're doing a good job of keeping things quiet on their end, just not good for coverage.) Alas ...
  7. Sorry to disappoint guys, but it's not happening. USF and Georgia Tech had a conversation, but nothing came of it. No such game in the works for 2013 or 2014.
  8. You hear Doug talk about Maryland? That's about as pointed a criticism as I've heard from him in eight years. I'll post a quote in a bit ...
  9. Sometimes public records request is best way to know you have everything covered. USF normally doesn't shy away from announcing games -- they have a "future schedules" page on the football part of the official site. Odd that Western Carolina was signed in July 2011 and just never got added to list. McGillis mentioned Western on "USF Access" show on 98.7, so I figured I would check to make sure what else is out there. You do that hoping for news of a BCS opponent, more so than the Towsons of the world ...
  10. Bulliever, no "justification" required -- if it's a public document, you have a right to see it as any citizen.
  11. USF didn't announce anything, so you can't really question the timing of it. I put in a public records request for contracts for future football games, and these are the new ones that popped up. As some of you have mentioned, USF has played a I-AA opponent every year since moving to I-A. No change here.
  12. Not doing anything publicly and not doing anything can be two different things, right? Don't presume one to mean the other.
  13. Sets a bad precedent to tear up a contract and let someone leave without contractual penalties, no? Main reason Doug gave him the extension was to guard against someone else luring him away from USF -- you'd argue the increased buyout on Holtz's end was only benefit to USF in the extension. If USF let Holtz leave without a contractual buyout, not sure how you'd be able to hold any future coaches to their buyouts.
  14. It would cost Holtz $1-million to buy out of his contract before Dec. 2013. That's a result of the new extension he got in June -- before that, would have cost only $500k to buy out of his original USF contract.
  15. The tweet from a Tallahassee writer that this thread is based on has since been deleted.
  16. I don't know. If I knew, would certainly report something. If they're close, logic certainly points to giving Floyd the nod and not sacrificing a year of eligibility for Eveld unnecessarily. If you start Eveld and he falters early, hard to make a switch since the guy just gave up a year of eligibility to get on the field; if you start Floyd and he falters early, you can say he had a shot and put Eveld in. I don't think Marc is more than a here-and-there look in Wildcat, just a change of pace to give the threat of a running QB. Just my opinion ...
  17. He can't take a medical -- once you play in the second half of a season, no coming back. He may very well end up redshirting in 2013, so he would have used the redshirt one year or another.
  18. On Wednesday, they'd said 1,300 students had requested tickets ...
  19. You think the invite is hinging on one season's on-field success? Wouldn't Louisville be in the Big 12 by that logic, given that Louisville is having the kind of year Louisville is having this year?
